Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan offers a vast range of technologies for healing and personal transformation. It helps to have an experienced practitioner and instructor guide you in what will work best for the direction you would like to go, whether it’s working with some aspect of your personality or growing into your destiny. With almost 30 years of practice, John, aka Jiwan Shakti, has been through many phases of the yoga journey and has a very down-to-earthy approach to guiding others. There is no substitute for experience. Group classes and workshops are good, but individual instruction can zero in on exactly what you would like to work on and provide the support to help you get there.
Jiwan Shakti offers individual instruction as single sessions or as a series. We start with a free consult to determine what you would like to work on and to help you understand what technologies Kundalini Yoga offers–what you’ve come from and where you would like to go. This initial meeting is to see if you feel that he is a good teacher for you; the main key to a successful practice is finding a teacher with whom you resonate; He will not be right for everyone, nor does he try to be; he took a pledge to teach this yoga just as it was taught to him.
Next, you can start with one session and see how it feels. This will last about two hours, and we’ll work through a series of Kundalini Yoga kriyas (dynamic exercises involving breath, movement, and mantras) selected specifically for you. Then, you’ll do a meditation and finally a total relaxation. Then, we’ll talk about how to continue your practice at home until next time. In this way, you can begin to establish a daily practice for yourself; these sessions are intended to make you more independent so you can take charge of your own practice, growth, and life, not to keep you coming back for more.
You can also engage with a series of once-a-week sessions. These are offered as monthly subscriptions of four sessions. These offer more continuity and a logical progression of learning; you can start with the very basics, then add more specific meditations as we move toward defining what you want to do. It’s all very fluid and flexible. Some people find that making the commitment to a full month of sessions helps them stay on track.
All sessions are conducted at Sacred Pathways Sarasota, in a private, cozy setting. Times and days are flexible.
